Mimi Wlodarczyk is a first generation American who has made her home in Berlin, Paris, Krakow and New York City. Speaking each language fluently.
The richly visceral quality of Mimi’s work stems from her ability to completely immerse herself in the sensorial dimensions of the worlds she photographs. In fact, this approach – her exploration of the senses which was guided by such luminaries as Lisette Model, Ben Fernandez, Richard Avedon, Arnold Eagle and Romare Bearden - led Mimi to expand her artistic journey into motion picture film and the culinary arts.
Mimi has had eight celebrated solo shows and has been featured in twenty two group shows. Her critically acclaimed work has been seen in the TV series ‘Sex In The City’ and the films ‘The Brave One’, ‘The Score’, ‘For The Love Of The Game’, and the ‘Sex In The City’ movie.
In addition to her photography, Mimi has taught at several institutions as well as worked in administration at the New School University, has been cinematographer on a number of music videos, was a gallery assistant at the prestigious Bodo Niemann Gallery in Berlin and has done fine B&W printing for Marilyn Bridges, Gentil & Hyers and Martha Stewart Magazine.
Mimi received her BFA with Honors from Parson’s School of Design and her MFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Film Department. She received her Grande Diploma in Culinary Arts from the French Culinary Institute in New York. |
